Screen darkens t41

My screen darkens after a few minutes and under direct light you can faintly see what is on the screen. restart and screen comes on again for a minute or two---restart--- comes on again for a minute or two. When screen is on it looks good. swapped out inverter with one from Ebay that I was told was good---same thing happened--- hooked up monitor and it stays on with good picture. HELP!!!----thanks---ED

Probably needs a NEW INVERTER but could be the screen...

By new inverter i mean NEW and EXACTLY the same as old one...SAME part number etc...
