Solved! Screen flickers randomly

Hello, My Acer laptop has a crazy flickering screen that seems to be getting worse. I think it only happens when it's not plugged in with an ethernet cable. The cursor jumps around, the document I'm working on will suddenly start scrolling downwards, the cursor symbol changes to two opposing triangles with a dot between them, and everything locks up. No key will work. I have to wait for it to stop on its own before I can put the cursor back where it belongs.
Any ideas?

It could be an issue with the graphics driver. Is the screen itself flickering in the sense that it looks like it could turn off? Try updating the graphics driver and see if that does the trick.
