Screen is acting strange

So i recently got a vizio 37 inch tv by my aunt but when i turned it on,the screen only worked for a few seconds then it went gray with red or pink parallel lines.When i leave it turned off the screen stay functional a bit longer.

I was wondering what could be the problem,can it be repaired and how much could it cost if i need it repaired

Hard to tell what the cost might be.

The best thing you can do is blowout any dust that might be around the vents if it is overheating ... which may be the problem. Give a good clean first, then if no success, phone a TV repair place and get a quote.

New they are worth about $200 ... so spending much to repair it is a bit of a problem.
