SD card not working on chromebook

why do some sd cards work with my chromebook and some don't?

I have an acer chrome book 14.
One of the cards is a pny 1gb that has photos on it and I can download them onto the computer. I have a blank 8gb San disk that I want to load music onto but it won't work.

not enough.
1, acer chromebook 14, don't have sd card slot, at least on the model that I found.
2, just the brand name of the sd card doesn't help much, need the exact model
