Solved! SD Card query

So I have an SD card that i set as default storage.
And the card drawer in my Honor 8C is the same as the SIM card.
If I would want to remove the SIM card from the phone,would I have to turn off the phone before I pull the drawer to avoid things going haywire with the SD card?

Yes it's a good idea to turn off the phone first since you may have things using the storage card while the phone is on.
