See 2d on 3d Active shutter TV

Hello,
Is there a way to view only left or right sides on an active shutter TV?

The reason I am looking into this is because my Sony TV has a "over-under" 3D mode where the top and bottom halves of the screen is overlaid into one image. This is used if you have two stereoscopic images on the top and bottom and would like to see in into one 3D image.

If somehow I can get my active shutter glasses to show only the top image and another pair to show the bottom, we can have Xbox 360 split screen with each having their own full screen.

I know the PS3 has developed the same thing, I'm just trying to get the same principle working for the Xbox 360
