Seeking good free anti-virus program.

I've been paying for Mcafee Anti Virus Plus for several years now and I'm trying to cutt some costs and I was wondering what you can recommend for me that gives me the same protection or close to it, that Mcafee Virus Plus did. I'm not really knowledgable about the free anti-virus programs out there.
