I've heard of this. They were also trying things powered by energy-rich liquids like olive oil and such. Unfortunately olive oil is harder to come by than an electrical outlet, so it was pretty much a bust. I'd have to say that my lifeblood is a little more valuable than some electricity too, honestly.

There was a B movie in the '80s about a vampiric race car that would use blood for turbo charge sucked from the foot of its driver... totally forgot the name though.
 
damn for a moment I thought it was like a back to the future fuel that you sit on top off and drop off recyclable fuel
 
In the good old days - they used to use lead pipe and a zinc pipe inserted into each end of the 'cell'. Not looking forward to that bit of the conversion.
 
Powered by blood? I wonder how that would be feasible for something external. But on the other hand, something like a pacemaker would benefit from this tremendously.
