Setting up soundbar

DVD only has hdmi connector, bt you view box has optical, hdmi and scart connectors and tv has 2 hdmi, scart and optical. Want to connect sound bar which only has optical connector to you view and DVD. Do I need to connect you view and DVD by hdmi. Should I get a scart breakout adaptor with optical connections and scart lead and plug into tv and you view box then optical connectors from sound bar to breakout adaptor. Please could anyone tell me if this is the correct way to set up for the sound bar to work on you view and dvd

Sounds like you should connect both the DVD and view box to the TV with HDMI. Connect the TV optical audio out to the soundbar optical audio input.
