This is a weird problem that i encountered with my beat-up "HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0xxx". With no apparent reason my scroll wheel activates the shift key and it's getting real annoying. If I go one notch up or down with the scroll wheel it presses down the shift button and then if I go another notch up or down it deactivates it. I don't know a better way to express what is going on. Restarting the computer didn't work, but i have yet to test it with another mouse. I'll still have to see what the steelseries engine has to say about my mouse, but a very strange problem overall and i haven't seen anyone make a post about this kind of an issue anywhere either. I'll update this thread if I can fix it in some way

Okay, well that was fast. Apparently something on my laptop messed with my mouse's profile and made the scroll wheel activate the shift key. Just a strange situation overall but solved
