Should I buy a used gaming laptop?

Sometimes I find gaming laptops such as the MSI GT60 or the MSI GT70 - ASUS G55VW/75VW on Ebay/Amazon for really cheap (like $300-$400 under retail price)
These are of course used but sometimes I Find some that the seller claims are "only used a couple times," etc or "Still has 1 year warranty"

Whats your experience with buying a used laptop on ebay?

I want to use this for college for next year ( so i want it to last 4 years)
