Should I buy this laptop for this price or look for another?

I can get an Asus G550JK-CN474H for $1300 AUD ($993 USD), originally priced at $2000 AUD ($1527 USD)

i7 4710HQ
GTX 850M
NO SSD
750GB HDD (2 drives accumulated to = 750GB)
8GB of DDR3 RAM

Is this laptop good or should I be looking elsewhere for that amount of money?

I already have a desktop computer with an i7 4770k and GTX 770, so I don't necessarily need this laptop for gaming, but it'd be a plus. It's more of a future proofing laptop instead of getting some cheap garbage that'll break in no time.

TLDR:
I want a laptop that will last into the years instead of a lower end one. Is this a good price for what I'm getting, or should I look elsewhere?

If you just want a laptop for travel and portability, you are spending too much.

I would look at a Lenovo thinkpad. Their keyboards are the best.
Next, buy one with a small hard drive and replace it with a ssd.
That is the best performance upgrade you can do.
I think current gen integrated graphics is fine for all except fast action games.

I'd be using it for (light) 720p 60FPS game recording and editing/rendering (Sony Vegas Pro) during travel.
If a Lenovo ThinkPad is still a suitable choice for what I want it for, could you recommend one?
