should i formmat the new mirco sd card ?

My android phone " ZTE" have a micro sd card 16 GB. Without any root when i bought this cell cell phone the applications can into the external sd card, but i got many problems like the mobile can't save any backup into sd card and make formatting finally the sd card has damage and cant use it any more , so i buy another new one 4 GB. my questions :
Should i format the new micro sd card ? and can i root it ?

It's a good idea to format a card with the device you intend to write to it with (eg your phone), there should be a format option in the phone menu.

I can't advise you on rooting the phone as it's not my area of expertise.

Hi, no, I think it`s not necessary. You can just buy an adapter for your sd card. my friend recently had the same problem, but with sim card, when she bought an iphone 4s
