Should I get a laptop with gtx 1060 and 120hz display or gtx 1070 and 60hz?

I’ve been searching for the best gaming laptop under $1300 and found these two :

ASUS ROG GL502VS-DB71 (used, which I don’t mind)

Specs : gtx 1070 8gb, i7 6700hq, 16gb ram, 15”, but I don’t know about the refresh rate, some people say that it has a 120hz display, but the seller only says 60hz.

Specs : i7-7700HQ, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSHD, NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB, 17.3" Full HD 120Hz.

So which one would you recommend, do I get the powerful one with the gtx 1070 but limit myself to 60hz, or get the one with the gtx 1060 and enjoy that 120hz display, but I’m scared that the gtx 1060 wouldn’t reach that FPS in modern games.
Feel free to recommend any other laptops that are better under $1300.

the 1060 is not strong enough to drive most newer games at 1080p >= 120hz
and I doubt that screen has g-sync

That what I thought too, but I’m gonna be playing games like overwatch which are not that hard to run.
So, you’re saying that I should get the gtx 1070?

I thought about buying the gtx 1070 laptop and then buying a 144hz monitor, but couldn’t find any cheap/affordable 144hz monitors for my budget

Looks like I’ll just buy the gtx 1060 with 120hz laptop.

For me I will recommended you the GTX 1070 beceuase you can run most modern game at ultra setting with a high frame rate. You can connect to a external monitor for 1080p 144hz with a descend price.

So this highly depends on what you wanna use it for. If love playing less demanding games with high frame rates and and mediocre setting I’d say the 1060 and 120hz. The refresh rate definately makes a big difference to how your game plays. The 1060 is still strong enough to hold demanding games at a steady frame rate on a big lower settings.

The 1070 would be if you like playing at what will look like a solid 60fps with screen tear. I would only recommend this if your using graphic intensive software and love playing on high settings.

Both options seem great. I recommend the 1060 and 120hz personally, but do remember that there still is a major difference between desktop GPUs and smaller laptop GPUs, a noticeable speed gap but hey.

Honestly at the resolutions the laptops play at the 1060 is your best bang for your buck.
