Should I use a 5h or 5b pencil to unlock L1?

I believe you want the 5b because it's a softer lead and that's what you want to bridge the gaps.

Strange though on your 1.4 chip... Are you sure it's not unlocked already? Mine came with the L1 bridges in tact and I thought that all the 1.4's were this way...

O.k i will use my 5b :),

Well, my 1st 3rd and 4th L1 bridges are intact, the second one however seems to have been cut. Im just not taking any chances ;).

Thanks for the info Scout :D!

AMD + Intel = lower prices for me :)

yeah, some thunderbirds were left intact, but most of them were cut to lock the multiplier.
if your 1.4 came unlocked, you got a good one..hehe...at least good for overclockers. but for the most part, you will get a thunderbird that is locked.
