Silicon dust HDHR on gigabit ethernet, How??

I just bought the Silicon Dust HDHR connect. Since, on the SiliconDust website I don't see a forum for this model and it appears the website and forum have not been updated in years I am going to post my question here. I hope someone can help.

I have this hooked up to my gigabit ethernet in my house. But unfortunately for a new piece of hardware, it only has a 10/100 port. So I think this causes is the entire network to slow down to 100 Mbps. This is unacceptable and very short sighted of Silicon Dust.

My question is... How can I have my tuner on the network as it must be, but have it not slowing down the rest of the network.

The way it is now is I have a gigabit switch that plugs into port 1 of my netgear wndr3800 router and everything hangs off off it. Would it work if I had the hdhr on port 2 of my router and then everything else on the switch on port 1 of my router? I am thinking not because I think it is just a another switch inside the router, so it would still slow down everything. But maybe...

How about a second card in the computer and hook the HDHR to it instead? Can a computer have two speeds of networks inside of it?

Does anyone have any idea how to make this work?

First off the Silicondust forum is updated all the time, not sure what you were looking at but I am sure Mediaman or others there would be able to help you.

However I have experience with their products and I will try to help.

You do not want to plug the hdhr directly into the router, this will cause lag in TV viewing.

What are you using to watch TV? Do you have the DVR PC hooked directly to the TV? Or are you using an extender like an Xbox 360?

The reason I ask is because the Ethernet port's on the Xbox's are not very good and can cause slow down and network issues while viewing.

But in answer to your question, the best way to do it is to have a switch as you already have independent of the router. If the gigabit switch is slowing down because of the HDHR (I find this difficult to comprehend but giving you the benefit of the doubt) then try a 10/100 switch connected to a separate port on the router and just connect the HDHR to the 10/100 switch and nothing else.

This should in theory remove the burden of processing the slower traffic from the gigabyte switch and hopefully improve the speed of your network.

I have a MediaPortal PC Server, Then I have clients at each tv. One client is a PC with Media portal fronted and XBMC and the other is an android tv box with XBMC.

As far as the Silicon Dust forum being updated regularly, I don't see how this is possible as some of there newer models, such as the connect, are not even listed.
