How do I hook up my energy soundbar to Samsung smart TV I have optical cord connected no sound I have digital converter box connected to TV for free air TV do I have to hook speaker cables also

You don't need to use the digital converter since you have a smart tv, because it has it's own tuner for over the air channels. Just connect to your tv's optical out, to your soundbar. Should work. If not, you may have to enable it in your tv settings.

does your tv not already have the digital tuner built in? If its a smart tv I would guess it already has one and you would not need the box just hook antenna to the tv. As for the sound do you have the correct input selected?
