Solved! smart tv problem black square coming onto screen

Solution
Are you able to try another TV or monitor?

Try the Vizio monitor on another computer.

Try another monitor on your computer or video source.

Determine if the "black square" problem follows the TV or stays with the computer/video source.

I suspect that the Vizio TV may have a loose "connection" inside. Some component or trace/wire that works most of the time and then due to vibration, heat, etc. disconnects and the image is momentarily lost.

Key is to isolate the problem to Vizio or source.

More details needed: make and model TV?

What video source are you using? Gaming, DVD player..?

How is the TV connected to the video source? Have you tried another known working cable?

Does the black square move around? Either appearing in differenct places or actually movng on the screen before disappearing?

How big is the black square with respect to the overall screen size?

Thanks! It is a Vizio TV and no computer or other source involved, but will change out the cable box first. We will see if we can find a loose wire or connection in the tv if cable box switch does not work.
