Smartphone and Tablet? Why??

Hello! (I don't know if this is the right category to post this question, but it seems to kind of fit.)

I have been wanting to get an android tablet for while, but then a important question hit me....

Is there any point in having a tablet AND a smartphone?

I am planning on getting an android smartphone sometime this year or early next, and I just wanted to know if there was any point in having a tablet as well as a smartphone.

I am just trying to see if there is any point having both because I really want a tablet, but if it would be redundant with a smartphone, I guess I might save my money.

So, is there any advantage or use in having both?

A tablet is just about worthless. Im not sure why people throw money out the window over them.

They are a giant android phone, without the phone.
They are a mobile device that costs as much as a laptop, with none of the benefits.

I would just buy an android phone with the biggest screen.
