I want a virtual 3D (surround) headset. Not going to be used for music. And I like features (volume knob on a headset, mic up to mute, etc... you get the jist). I've been looking at the logitech g35's for quite sometime and I know I would be happy with these (g930's appealed to me as well but I hear the mic quality is thrown under the bus bc of limited wireless bandwidth, dont really care if ppl complain about my voice but why be inferior?). The hardest part about shopping online obviously is not being able to compare my own values to a headset/any product really. But.. I've been thinking of going for the gold and getting either an Astro A40 2013 edition or Sennheiser PC350SE. And a small but kinda big thing I'm going for is colour coordination. I have a real ugly (but great!) Acer G24 monitor which is... orange. Gonna pick up a logitech g710 which has orange accent, G700s which looks awesome (kinda on the fence about the Tron looking decals mixed with my setup but the white will go with my Fractal case I'm hoping) point being the g35/g930 has orange and so does the PC350SE. Sooo kinda would like that but I know its alot to ask...

1st question. I know most Sennheisers are usually epic stereo headphones but I could not confirm anywhere that their gaming series has virtual 7.1 or 5.1 surround? I'm guessing so but would be devastated if I bought nice stereo headphones when my main goal is to get 3D sound.

2nd question. Does anyone suggest a better headset for gaming in the 250 price range? Or the 100+ range? Like I said I would be happy with g35's or g930's but also like I said I have no idea what ANY of these sound like!!! ugghhh!!

Thanks in advance guys!!

Solution
My Sennheiser (PC 323d) has drivers for the USB connection to do virtual 5.1 and 7.1. Volume adjuster on the right earpiece (no microphone mute but sliding the mic boom up mutes it)

I personally wouldnt bother with the 930's because they're wireless. I know a guy who owns a pair (came from G35's) and constantly drops off Teamspeak because he forgets to charge the batteries. The USB cord on the 35's is more then long enough and is braided for extra protection

LOL Rex, exactly what I mean by being inferior, some ppl may say having clumsy wires are inferior but with proper cable management that^ is exactly what I'm talking about! haha and I would say I'm on the fence of being an audiophile bc I'll hate terrible audio quality 256 and below is what i can tell is crappy. But anything higher I'm not gonna nit pick at a game for having good not best audio quality.

And Snipergod, your sure any of the gaming series would have this? I know it sounds stupid to second guess one the most premium audio companies but I'm the type of guy that has to b 100% sure before making a purchase.

Not really, typically (especially to audiophiles) simulated surround sound is a gimmick. Mind you, I have never used a 7.1 set, but the only time i really notice the extended "stage" is when testing the playback in the device's software. I can. in game, differentiate between rear left/ right, but I cant imagine adding two more channels would be that noticeable.

Yea some ppl swear by both and I haven't tried anything so I cant put my 2 cents in for it. Linus Tech Tips always swears by 2 speakers with virtual. And I would have to agree a little bit. I lied tho I do have Tritton AX Pros but my center right died after 3 weeks, piece of junk! I liked the digital audio quality of them (and they're orange!!! LOL) but had no sense of direction with 4 speakers crammed together in one small space. Unless your talking about Psyko Carbons then I understand that but I dont want those for some reason.. I think they look terrible and dont want top heavy headphones, but thats just my opinion with limited knowledge.

Is there a headset that would just be a no brainer?! Why is this so difficult!! lol
I also like the Vengence 2000 ONLY bc of the 50mm drivers.. nothing else..
