Software with license server

Hi all,

I've purchased some (statistical) software that relies on a connection to a license server to work successfully. This is a bit of a PITA as I need to use this at home and currently I'm forced to have another machine on all the time as the "license server".

Is there an easy work around to this (i.e. can I create a fake server on my own PC) so that I don't have to use 2 PCs at once?

Using any of the free VM software you should be able to create a virtual computer inside of your computer and run the license server from there.
