Just go to show again how the whole terrorists is blown out of all proportions.. putting someone as paranoid and clueless as this Patrick figure as the chairman of the anti terrorist unit just goes to show that.

It looks like governments are trying to give us a sense of security with these kind of "units" while actually causing public paranoia with their ignorant, incapable employees shouting whatever they like.

Excuse my French..

this is the kind of guys that limiting how much baby formula a person can bring on a plane.. parinoid poeple like this are giving the terrorists power by fearing them. >_< somebody kick this guy out of office

There is actually a good cause for concern for British citizens here, as any terrorist is probably smarter than the former chairman of the Parliamentary Counter Terrorism sub-committee.

Can be used to distract fat security guards in order to sneak into buildings and steal important information.

I think some people like to make a stink about something just to look important. It's called pyramid building. He's a shaker and a mover. He's trying to get publicity. Maybe a raise? A pat on the back? Some applause in the house. Arf Arf. Good boy! Here Here! Well done Patrick. That Mercer chap. Jolly good fellow.

Touché

So we should waste billions upon billions, our time, our liberties and basically declare forfeit because a bunch of loosely affiliated rag-heads barely manage to kill a few dozen westerners each year? Its about time that people understand that a terrorist cell automatically lose if we just IGNORE them.

Fat people don't eat Jello. If they would, instead of eating pudding, pie, cake, they might not be so fat...

For those of us not making fun of every story with some kind of playground joke; this is a big deal only because it perpetuates 'fears' that government and media continue to push onto the public. Take a couple of steps back and look at how much legislation gets passed unnoticed because everyone fails to read beyond 'Terrorist', 'Safety' and 'Homeland'. What you don't see is all of the underlying BS that is getting set in place to remove more and more of your freedoms.

Because Americans are supposed to be 'afraid of terrorists', now the government has the right to do just about anything to anyone without much of a reason...other than they 'say so'.

"Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either". -Benjamin Franklin

After 9-11, they decided photography posed a threat to national security, now it's smart phones that access public information...not being a threat to humanity is getting harder and harder.

Or maybe a roofee. Giggity, giggity, giggity ...
