Some of the keys on my samsung rv511 laptop have stopped working could this need a replacement keyboard?

Yes, but considering this is a 2 year old computer (so out of warranty for defects) and you broke the keyboard itself, your really stuck on solutions that are cost effective. For example, at Walmart a brand new i3 "budget laptop" (like this model) is only $249. You can just get a USB keyboard dirt cheap (even seen one once at the Dollar stores), but anything 'fancy' or getting a exact replacement ($79+ from Ebay as second hand / used keyboard and you have to know / have the service manual to replace it, which can still be easy to being more damaged) you may just be at the cost threshhold to consider instead replacement with a brand new laptop instead.

You can use a external drive and Windows Easy Transfer to move from one computer to another your 'data', and maybe you will have learned how to better take care of the laptop (not drink over it, not eat over it, don't smash so hard when Angry Birds gets frustrating, etc.).
