Some sounds don't work

Hello,
I did a fix to my OS (windows home edition). Now it seems all the windows sounds don;t work including media player. I can;t get sound from the net but I get sound playing games like starcraft. I tried to reinstall drivers and nothing seems to be working. It tell em the driver is working when i check it out but when I go to change stuff in the audio it is all grey and the volume bar is all the way down but I can;t click or drag any of the stuff in there......any reccomendations?

As you updated Windows it's possible that this is a known issue with the Windows update -- might be worth looking at the Microsoft site (though I'm not sure which bit).

Check Windows, Settings, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager and see if sound stuff is listed or yellow flagged as faulty. Try updating the driver.

Most likely remedy is a visit to the Motherboard and/or Sound chipset makers' websites to seek the latest driver set.
