Are you coming to CommVEx on July 30 and 31 in Las Vegas?

If you are, you'll have a chance to see, and possibly play, the wickedest
new game for the SuperCPU equipped Commodore.

Metal Dust (http://www.protovision-online.de/) has arrived and will be
running at CommVEx.

At the moment, our plan is to use the game Oil's Well (have a couple
cartridge copies) as the game to be played in our Video Game Competition
(with some awesome prizes), but if CommVEx attendees feel they would rather try
their hand for the top score in Metal Dust at CommVEx we may just revamp the
Game Competition.

CommVEx is pleased to add the North American EXPO Debut of Metal Dust to
its schedule of events.

Come and join the fun!

Not trying to totally knock this game as I haven't played it.. but looking
at the screenshots I'm not really understanding the need for a 20 Mhz
superCPU. It just looks like any old side-scroller 2D type game. I mean
if it were 3D doom-style or something I'd see a reason. So my question is,
what does this game offer that other games that work on a vanilla C64 not
have?

Did you view the trailer? The animation is rock solid stable with tons
of moving objects, much more impressive than any side scroller I've seen
on the stock 64.

I've played it back then on a Vision meeting in 2003 and I can assure
you, it kicks ass. The music and sfx sound as if there's a CD running in
the background, there are tons of moving objects, sprites, fancy
background animations, etc. Believe me, you can't have all that without
a Supercpu. Very nice game indeed. I'll buy it without hesitating as
soon as Maurice Randall has caught up on his ordering backlog of SuperCPUs.

Stephan
