I agree. It would probably make more sense to extend it about 3/4 of an inch.

keep the standard design, it works and it is easy to use if you hate the grease, find a way to extend the viewfinder or made a snap in adapter that will extend it like 2 inches or so.

Sony DSLR's kinda suck, all of them will rip you off on lens but sony seems to love finding many ways to rip people off.

also the body design of that camera will increase the chance of dropping it.

What if you are Italian and have a bigger nose??? Yeah they might as well make the viewfinder like a rifle scope.

Honestly, with the experience of working in a camera shop for the last 8 years and shooting a lot on my own, this design is a fail. It's pretty, sure. However you can't shoot this camera with one hand since it lacks a hefty grip for your right hand. Also, it looks like it's not made of a grippy material where your hands touch it. Like many above said, with an EVF you can place the viewfinder wherever. Sad thing is, with an EVF the technology isn't quite there. You can't beat a huge, bright 100% viewfinder. They are so much better!! Furthermore, there are no wheel-type controls for manual shooting modes, which would make using A,S, or M completely frustrating. Already, entry level models without dedicated wheels are slightly less handy to use. Lastly, if this is intended to be a consumer model it needs a pop-up flash. Add a grip, some manual control wheels, and make sure it's ergonomically sound and this could be an okay camera!

Cumbersome design. There are lots of good reasons as to why neither Canon nor Nikon DSLRs looks like this.

Also there are lots of viewfinder options already to solve both big-nose problems and for viewing the viewfinder from other angles than just straight on.
