Solved! Sony vaio battery life short

Umm hi,
My Vaio laptop not only overheats and shuts down, but the battery life says it has 1hr and so minutes. But after two minutes, it shuts down and I barley turned it on. Does that mean I need a new battery or should I get a new laptop?

Remove battery and use your laptop with only power plugged in. If it still shutdown, I think it is overheat.

Check temperature with:

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Also report the battery capacity because I think your battery is near the end of its life (sony vaio definitely have better battery life then 1 hours).
