Sony Vaio charging but not turning on.

I have a Sony vaio laptop VGN model 2007, 2GB ram, 250GB hard disk, Core2Duo processor, Windows 7. When I connect the charger it is charging with the charging light on. While switching on the laptop, the power switch blinks for a second but laptop won't turn on. There is a soft sound after a few seconds which I feel the fan is trying to start but can't. I had a similar problem few years back and I don't remember how the technician solved it. The laptop has been out of use for months. Ive replaced the battery and charger with appropriate voltage specifications.

Hey I to had the same prob..to fix it just unpulg the adapter and remove the battery fr a sec then first pulg in the charger and then put the battery back and turn it on..guess it would work@ Sony vaio
