I can't find a manual for this model. It has two Memory slots but will not work with a 2gig ram in each..making a total of 4gigs. Bios says it is there but computer will not boot up. Is this a model that only supports 2gigs total? Can it be altered.Any help would be appreciated.

Indeed the Internet doesn't know anything about this laptop. Sounds like one of those special once-off production thing.

Your remaining option: Google for a similar laptop: "VAIO CORE DUO T6500 2.1GHZ" hopefully this "cousin" would have similar spec and the info necessary.

Tnx for your reply. That suggestion of a T6500 says it is only an entry level processor It is based on the Penryn core but offers only 2 MB level 2 cache and a slow clock rate of 2.1 GHz. Compared to the Core 2 Duo T6570, the T6500 does not offer Virtualization VT-x and is therefore aimed at consumer notebooks.
I think that answers my question/
I have a 1gb chip on its way and will try that with one of the 2gig ones and if that doesn't work then I have some memory to sell.....thanks again

Well being obsolete is not really what I was looking for. I am probably obsolete these days as have been around for a while now. This computer was given to me in a faulty condition and I have succeeded in getting it back on track. It has w10-64bit running so can't be that old. I have old desktops that will not even look at W10.
Anyway I may send a question to Sony and see if they reply but looks like 2gigs is the max. They put some funny restrictions on these laptops when they make them eh! I just enjoy experimenting with computers as have not much else to do in my old age.
Thanks for your reply "Dude"

Just received the following link from Sony which they say is the compatable Laptop.
http://www.sony-asia.com/support/product/VGN-CR323
Doesn't actually say the maximum memory it will handle. However have just received a 1gig chip and installed and the computer has fired up ok now showing 3 gigs total. maybe the pair of 2 gig chips I purchased are not compatible with this laptop.
I think 3 gigs will do the trick anyway so up and away we go.
Thanks for everybodys help and hope the link above helps some other forum member.
