Sony vaio Laptop won't charge?

The other day my 4yr old vaio stopped charging itself. The charger is fine and I've checked with other chargers and they won't work either so I believe it's something in the laptop. Could anyone help me and tell what part needs replacing or fixing ? I'm getting a new one in a months time but for the next few weeks I really need it for college. Thanks

Edit: I don't think it's the battery because I checked it and it was fine and also it should boot without the battery while on the charger. Any other ideas?

Most likely that the battery has failed,however you could try removing the battery and cleaning the contacts on the battery and the laptop with switch cleaner or isopropyl alcohol.
