When I try to turn on my Sony Vaio the power led alone turns on, Screen remains blank. It doesn't even show VAIO screen. I am not able to tun off the laptop as well as holding down the power button doesn't seem to work. I have tried with a new hard disk and also I tried cleaning the RAM and reinserting it. But nothing seems to work.

Can you hook it up to an external monitor to see if you get anything on that? You may have to hit a key or combination of keys to get it to display on the external monitor. If it doesn't show on external monitor either then likely a problem with your graphics card, your processor, or your motherboard.
