Hi, I recently tried installing Sony Vegas Pro 16 and the installer shows an error after "installing" the files. ERROR: -2147163964. I've tried reinstalling the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages (2017, 2010). The installer is running Build 248. Please help

Solution
A few ideas that may work, may not.

#1. Enable TrustedInstaller ("Windows Modules Installer") in your Services.msc. If it's already enabled or set to Manual, try Starting it.

#2. Be sure you are running the setup as Admin. Right click on it and choose Run as Admin.

#3. See Lylou's answer about "Super Administrator" on the link provided above: http://www.sonyvegas.co.uk/error-2147163964-getlasterror5-during-install/ Be sure to disable it when done (whether it works or not).

Better instructions: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/activate-windows-super-administrator-account
Read all of it beforehand.

No, Windows 10 is tied to your hardware and microsoft account if you use one. If you don't you just need to enter your license key again. Actually it may just validate itself, I haven't done a reinstall without a MS account on it yet.

Alright, So all software will be wiped off from the system except from windows itself? I'd like to keep office if possible

Everything will be wiped, you will need to reinstall everything, can't even keep office.

If you have any sort of antivirus running (other than Windows own), then try isolating the computer during the install (after turning off antivirus). If you are using a certain propriety brand, you may have to download their free 'disabler'.
