Hi

I have a Sony VGN-FW21M which is starting to struggle under the weight of software I am asking it to run including Visual Studio development and Adobe design tools. I am particularly concerned about the amount of work the fan is being asked to do in order to keep the CPU temp in check.

I was wondering whether replacing the hard drive with an SSD (specifically an OCZ 256GB Vertex 4) would give me any appreciable performance increase and perhaps take some load off the machine in general.

Looking at the specs, I'm struggling to work out whether the SATA interface will be able to make much use of the improved disk performance.

Any recommendations?

Cheers
Chris.

SSD only get your application load faster, it will not help your application run faster. That laptop is pretty old, replace it might be better.
