[citation][nom]Yoder54[/nom]Eh?What old tech? The i5 or i7 CPU's, the trackpad, the unibody design, etc.? Wait, you must be referring to the OS built on the UNIX kernal. Apple may charge premium prices, but one thing they cannot be accused of is using antiquated components and designing antiquated devices. In fact, it would serve you well to research the 'firsts' that Apple has been responsible for in the computer industry since their inception.[/citation]

LMAO, what a retard.

Try harder. moron.

Don't forget to mention their cutting edge graphics cards!!!

What is the processor in the macbook? What it the graphics card in the macbook? Yes up til a month ago they had antiquated hardware, and yes they were still charging 2000 for that antiquated hardware. One major first (and an important first) that apple doesnt have is flash.

Apple has never been very inventive, outside of the original floppy disk controller for the Apple II, but you're quite right about them using newer technology that existed in their products before other companies. This includes the GUI/Mouse, SCSI, NuBus, Apple II with slots, 3.5 inch floppy, etc...

I will give you credit for pointing out Unix is obsolete, and giving both sides, which most people don't do because they just want to win an argument rather than being even-handed and correct. To Apple's credit though, the hide the ugliness of Unix better than anyone, but, agreed it's still slapping lipstick on a pig. But at least Apple adds mascara.

Let us not forget they created Mini DisplayPort, and the Webkit engine.

But for the most part I will agree that Apple hasn't really done anything truly inventive. But what they do well is make current hardware something people actually want to buy (maybe not the people on this website, but the general consumer).
Personally I think Apple's marketing division should get a A+ and a huge bonus. Of course it won't fool those people who know something about hardware, but the masses know nothing about hardware, they just want it to work.

And I'm not too sure if I would go around saying Unix is "obsolete."

I love how he starts his statement with "I don't think we were arrogant" and ends it with "There's no company that can deliver that like we can."

From a business perspective Apple is a liability and needs to be "humbled" or replaced. I have more respect for the underdog even if its a slacker. Also being poor one learns to appreciate the value of hard earned trust and the spoils that come with it. Being small can be a benefit in times of difficult business environment when the large suffer under the weight of the fat that is management and share holders. They also show the inability to adapt to local economies and lack the understanding of how different cultures work.

This is coming from a back woods Texas redneck....

Small world buddy, similar sentiment, same area of the US.

sony's right, they aren't arrogant, they are stubborn, look at how long they kept making any of their tech failures before killing the plug

as for sony beating apple with a phone in japan, it's not really much of a contest, apple is far more an american company if anything

as for apple, their phone specs are pretty much in-line with what else is out there (it's pretty much the same spec-wise as the palm pre..not sure of pre plus though)

less capable and slower hardware in the tablet market? what market? Last i checked, aside from the random chinese knock-off's (and product examples that will never be actually sold) of the ipad it's the only thing in market of it's type..now it's obvious your just hating against apple to hate against apple

can't argue on the facts (apple only technically has server-based products, not an actual marketshare of significance outside of their own use), and apple is becoming more an more a media company from the ipod/phone/pad than a computer maker anyway

i wouldn't call it 'apple hate is pretty much tech envy from fanboys' but a lot of apple hate is hate against them just for the sake of hating them, and not actually valid points

[citation][nom]Ragnar-Kon[/nom]Let us not forget they created Mini DisplayPort[/citation]

Isn't the mini display port an Apple proprietary thing again? Kind of the opposite to the point in question and concluding that Apple like closed systems? Hmmm... WebKit is at least opensource. Google contribute funnily enough. But digging deeper, you'll find Apple are hiding things again. Is the WebKit engine opensource when they contribute? Hmm...

Arrogant? SONY learned very little, they are not humble even from the arguments they give you, they just lost manny battles in very key areas like the MP3 player and the Playstation 3 and this is the lesson that every company and consumer need to learn. In Apple's arrogance terms I think they need to be aware they are not going to stay on top forever and they were in the bottom a few years ago. What is working now may not work in the near future, but isn't Apple this company who went from bottom-up recently? If they learned from their mistakes they could share a big spot for a while.

Maxor127:

All those reasons won't make me more creative as a CG artist or really wont give me the edge I need as a professional. What I really need is to invest in my education and above all keep my mind open. I won't marry to Apple but I wont marry to your "hardware is all simplicity". My plan is to use my mind, my work and my imagination and I just need a capable computer as a tool but the best hardware will never replace my talent or lack of talent.

Apple is simply put one of the companies everybody is talking about these days and is because they are creating relevant ways to use technology for manny people.

Strange how the X10 is Japan's best seller as it isn't very good because of the slow/rubbish Sony overlay. I sent mine back and waiting for the next HTC device.

For the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch, you're buying it for the software, because the hardware is nothing special.
For the PS3, you're byuing it for the hardware, because the software sucks.

If Apple released better phones, and Sony gave us better software (look at what people have done to the PSP with homebrew, it's a whole new device), I'd be happy.

Hahaha.... Sony... looosers! Looosers!

They've lost the console crown and they've lost the arrogance crown too!
Sony is such a lame looser!

I think sony has the right to call another company more arrogant. The "pot calling the kettle black" argument really doesn't make sense, who better to do the name calling then someone that knows it.

Denial is just another form of arrogance. Sony's products have not gotten any better if not worse due to the shift to China no less. I hate Apple even more than Sony.
