Sound bar and TV brand match

Hi guys, I am looking to buy a sound bar and was just wondering if the brand of my sound bar had to match the brand of my TV? or does it not matter much?

Forgive my lack of knowledge, but what is usually the preferred method of connecting a sound bar and the TV? would it be AUX or something else?

It depends mostly on what you watch on your TV. If you use some STB (set-top-box) for your TV, then you have to see what outpurs this STB has to offer. If you are using an aerial / antennae for your TV programiing, then TV outputs are leading factor.

Optical output is the simplest and most full-featured. Again, you should look at the outputs on your TV or check the owner's manual.

If you can turn your phone into WiFi hot-spot, and connect the Roku there - why not?
