Sound card for PC

I was thinking of getting audio technica m50x and I was wondering if I should get sound card too. I would go for asus xonar u5 and use it for gaming and music.

xonar is good.

you will get mixed responses here, some say the standard 64channel realtek mobo sound is enough, others (like me) prefer 128channel cards.

My belief is that if you buy a (decent) headset and no sound card, thats the same as buying an intel 'k' series and not clocking it.

sound card will not boost game performance at all.
