Sound - from desktop to tv- surround sound

K so , i have my desktop hooked up and i like to extend the display onto my tv the only problem is sound doesnt come out of my stereo set which doesnt have hdmi inputs/outputs it has the blue/red/green wire to go into one of the slots in the back but ive tried each one and still nothing transfers

when i try to play any song i have on my pc while my hdmi tv is set to default on sound it says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."

if someone knows a solution please help

The analog audio connections on a stereo are usually red and white (or red and black). The connectors you used would be component video not audio. Make sure that the PC is not sending audio via HDMI (change the audio device).

steps of changing the audio device ? please and thank you

Right click on speaker icon on taskbar. Select audio properties then the audio tab, Change device in sound playback.
Might be different on your PC.
