Sound on my laptop

Hello,
i turned on my laptop and for some reason my audio device a vanished and windows media player says there is no audio device or there are other programs using it but ive looked about my laptop and can find my sound just get beeps from the laptop can anyone please help its driving me nuts !!!!!

look in bios and see if the sound is actually enabled. In windows, does it show up in device manager, and is it enabled there. the other thing may be sound drivers.
