Sound stops during streaming through tv

I have a Dell laptop that I attach via HDMI to my Samsung tv to stream netflix, espn, etc. Never had an issue with sound. Suddenly in the last week sound will randomly cut out completely through the tv. Show still play with no sound on the tv. When it does this it does not start filtering sound through the computer. I have to unplug it , wait 10 to 15 seconds and then plug it back in. It seems like it will do this in netflix when the show I'm watching switches to a new episode. When watching espn, seems like it might happen when there is a brief interuptiin in the stream. As I said I've been using this set up for years and never had an issue with sound interuption. Please help!

Options ☺

1. Check the sound output from you laptop make sure the HDMI sound output is default device.

2. I suggest replacing the HDMI cable.
