Sound turns off

I have a 2 year old Sony Bravia 55inch. When I first turn tv on either using bose or tv speakers sound is present but after 5,10 or 30 seconds sound stops working? I am using hdmi and optical. If I switch inputs to my apple tv I have no problem and get sound always? So its not a problem with Bose system as I can hear sound, and my internal speakers also make sound for a few seconds when tv first starts up. Any thoughts?

You don't say whether you are using the internal tuner of the TV or a set top box. If you have a box it could be the box or the TV. If you are using the internal tuner then the problem is in the TV.
