Hi guys.

I was reading an article about speeding up my laptop and it was said I could look at the start-up section of task manager. I found ~sp3B61 in there. Not knowing what this was, I asked Google and to my surprise, Google didn't know! Can anyone tell me what this is for, as it runs at start-up and if Google doesn't know what it is, red flags are not only raised but waving wildly.

Everything else in the start-up menu if right-clicked, offers the following options: disable, open file location, search online and properties. However ~sp3B61 only offers disable and search online. The latter was a bust, as previously stated and I'm hesitant to disable anything I'm not sure about in case it's important.

Laptop is Toshiba brand, for info. I have recently done a full reinstall of windows, from Windows 10 back to 8, then back to 10 again. Reason for this was a virus/malware that I just could not get rid of. Not sure if this is relevant but info provided just in case.

Obviously if any further info is required I will do my best to provide it.

Thank you for your time.

You're right, search engines have no related hits (except your post).

Use Ccleaner to reveal the full path of that item, it might help to identify at least what it belongs to:
http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

Open Ccleaner
Click on Tools in the left panel.
Click on Startup in the adjoining panel.

Thank you Phillip. I've done as you suggested, Ccleaner said it was called SMsetup. I googled that, it came up with quite a few results but to be honest, I'm none the wiser whether I should disable it or not. Have you come across this one before?

Thanks for your help.

Disable it using CCleaner. Keep it disable for awhile to see if you notice any consequence on your PC. If everything working fine then you can delete it, if it turn out to be part of a program you need, then you can reenable it. Since it is unknown its either useless wasting computer resource or something bad.

Seem to be related to adware, probably came with a program that you downloaed:
