speakers worked firn then i unplugged computer to move it plugged it back in everything ok apart from no sound

speakers working fine til i unplugged computer and plugged it in again...have checked its in the right port and checked the volume is not on muts...please help as i have a hammer waiting

Use the hammer....
Jokes apart, by the way, have you plugged the speaker power in and switched them on too?
Check
If so, then use a spare headphone in the same port and see if you get any audio through it, could be just a bad speaker.....coincidentally failing.

You're 100% sure about that socket? Usually it is in the middle of the three and is coloured green.
