Speakers Working only in songs and no where else?

I have these logitech speakers that i connected to my laptop. To test them i played a song and it worked perfect.But then i tried a movie it didnt work and later i tried a game as well and that didnt seem to work either.
What am i missing here? Are there some settings i need to play with or something wrong with the speakers?(i havent used them in a while)

How are "these logitech speakers" connected to your laptop? USB? 3.5mm stereo jack?
What do you mean by "didnt work"? They produced no sound at all? Or the sound was not what you expected?
