speedswitchXP: dynamic down to 80%?

hi: has anyone figured out how to instruct it under dynamic switching
(AC power) to throttle back "all the way", rather than just to around
50% of the max speed? I would like to minimize the heating on my lap.
Under max battery, it can throttle down to 80%.

SpeedSwitchXP can only set the processor states that have been enabled in
BIOS by the OEM. You can set ANY available state using CPUMSR or
CrystalCPUID (find 'em using Google). Be careful trying out settings
since some clock multiplier setings can immediately crash your machine (eg
3x on my AMD XP-M 2400+) and selecting too low a core voltage for a given
clock rate can lead to instability - hanging or crashing. CPUMSR is easier
to use but CrystalCPUID allows you to set processor states from a shortcut
and also has its own power management routine (three performance states with
user settable parameters).
