Spilled soup into keyboard and now nothing works. Help!

So I spilled soup into my keyboard. I drained as much liquid out as I could then dried it out with a fan. I cannot get it to work now. I tried with and also without the battery. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it's time for a new one. They're very inexpensive, though, since you can find them for under $10 apiece. Just go ahead & buy a replacement.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't realize that you were talking about a laptop (thought you meant a desktop keyboard).

Assuming you can get inside the case, clean it out, & then reassemble it....if it still doesn't work, it's probably time for a new laptop. And to be honest, even if it does work after cleaning it, I'd start backing up the data & planning on replacing it anyway.

I cannot even get the computer to turn on. I thought it might be the battery since it does show signs of water stains on it but I also tried to remove the battery and plug the power cord in without the battery and still I cannot get the computer to do anything at all.

Hi, if you want to save your laptop, if it's not too late, you have to disassemble the laptop and clean the motherboard where you find the liquid.

You have to take it completely apart. And if it won't even start right now, it may be too late. Something may have shorted out.

I opened it up and there is no more liquid to clean up. I am waiting for another battery I ordered to arrive but now not sure that is the part I will need to replace. I'm not sure where to start if I do need to replace parts. Do you think the motherboard is the main issue? If not, what? Thanks for all the help.

The soup may have caused a short circuit and fried your laptop. If the laptop does not turn on when plugged into the AC outlet then a new battery will not solve the problem.

A fired motherboard is most likely the issue. A new motherboard could be rather expensive. For example, checking around for a new replacement motherboard for my Lenovo IdeaPad Y470 shows that the only place to buy one is on ebay sold by a distributor from China at a cost of $180 including free international shipping.

My Nexus 7 (2012) tablet recently got fried as a result of around a teaspoon of water. It was in a bag by itself. Apparently, a little bit of water spilled into the bag from a bottle that was not tightly closed.

Not realizing a little bit of water spilled onto it because the surface was dry, I turned on the Nexus 7. The screen displayed distorted graphics for about 1 second and shut down. After that I looked in the bag and notice a bit of water, turned it upside down and I would say about a teaspoon of water spilled out.

After 7 days of letting it dry the Nexus 7 does not turn on even when plugged into the AC outlet.

Thank you for your reply. When I plug the cord in I do see the power light come on and stays on but when I press the power button, nothing. Once I did get a very quick "something" splash across the monitor but went right back off. I guess there's nothing left to do. I am more than willing to replace parts if only I knew where to start, which part I should try first.

There's not that many independently replaceable parts in a laptop that would cause it to not start.

After leaving the back off and drying out two days and leaving it plugged in for one day, I tried once again today and yay! It turned on! Thanks all for your help.

It won't be the battery, wrong part to order. Replace the keyboard first. I've seen bad keyboards cause the system not to start.
