Hi everyone!

I have a very particular problem and since I don't know my way around computers very well I hope you guys can help me out. We recently bought a new PC which is running Windows 10. We didn't get speakers with it so when me and my boyfriend want to play games together we have to use two sets of headphones to both get sound. We have a splitter and when we plug it into the audio port on the back of our PC we get sound but it only comes from one of the earpieces on both of our headphones. So I will only be getting sound coming from my left ear and he will only be getting sound from his right ear. When we plug the splitter into our phones it doesn't have this problem so it is not related to the splitter.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue? We have this great new computer but can't play the games we have because of this sound problem :(

Hope anyone is able to help! Thanks a lot in advance for any insight you might be able to provide.

I understand it worked on your phone but I suspect the splitter is the problem. Some splitters don't duplicate stereo but split the stereo into separate left and right outputs.

If the splitter you got has a plug with 4 black rings instead of 3 it may be for phone use only,

Hi americanaudiophile! Thanks a lot for your help :) I took a pic of our splitter (don't know how to add it) and it looks very similar to the one on the picture you included as far as I can tell. I see 2 black rings on the jack. Does this mean we have one that only works on phones/ipods/etc? And how would I go about getting one that does work on our PC?

You were a great help! Next time I'll be sure to ask the guys here at Tom's right away ;)
