Static while playing games

I decided to install and play Batman Asylum onto my laptop, which is when I noticed it. All is well until I've played for about a minute, and then the sound on my entire computer fizzes out until it's completely gone. Not just in the game, but ALL sound. I've tried with external speakers, but the same problem ensues, and my laptop's built-in speakers will still have a lot of static before all sound is completely gone - while the external ones are still plugged in. The sound will be gone, until I close down the game. After a moment, I'll get more static, and then the sound will gradually come back again the same way it disappeared. I've tested this with other games I've had no problem with before, and the same happens.

Rebooting the machine doesn't seem to have any effect whatsoever, as the sound still comes back gradually. I've found that simply waiting is the easiest way to fix it. I've already re-installed both audio and graphics drivers, and it didn't help any.

My laptop is an MSI GT70 2PE Dominator Pro, I've had it for over a year and never experienced anything like it.

Thanks!

Edit: It happens if I play Batman or LEGO Super Heroes, but funnily enough, not when I play Binding of Isaac. I assume this has something to do with how demanding the game is?

Also, please be detailed, since I'm not all that good with messing with drivers and all that jazz.

Hi,

Your laptop is more than capable in running those games with no problem.

Batman Asylum System requirements:

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that might help.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the NVIDIA graphics card driver under Display Adapters.
- Now go to Programs and Features and uninstall anything related to NVIDIA.
- Download and install the latest graphics card driver from NVIDIA support site.
- Here's the link: nvidia.com/download/index.aspx
- Reboot the laptop once the driver has been installed.

It should be, yeah. I was so looking forward to playing that game without lag and low frames.

Did as you suggested, followed everything to the dot, and the same thing happens after 6 minutes of gameplay.

Also, as a side note, I've noticed that my power button has changed colour. It used to have a white light, but then some while back it changed to a constant orange as it would be while the laptop was busy booting up or down. Though I read online that it's a very common thing and caused by NVIDIA's driver, and nothing to worry about... and now, after re-installing the driver, it's white again. Not an issue, just strange.
