Thanks to the nefarious work of a “worse case scenario” app, one dedicated YouTuber has managed to blight his Steam Deck OLED with a form of burn-in. Hoo-boy does it take a monumental amount of time to get there, though.

This is still a concerning timeframe. The switch's OLED lifespan is much more comfortable, though I too hate the idea of any burn-in at all.

While I'm sure some people prefer having the full OLED experience at the cost of longevity, I'd prefer if the brightness was capped at a lower value by the firmware to ensure longer life.

Perhaps valve could make a BIOS setting so that casual users would be unlikely to lower the life of their device while allowing advanced users to unlock the full potential of the screen.
