What exactly are you trying to do? A receiver already has an amp inside it.

Trying to get more watts the receiver has 500 watts per channel but I'm use four 12's and five small speakers so not sure if that would be to much

You have to split the source of the signal, and feed to both amp and receiver. Or follow @jsmithepa' advice if any of these has PREOUT.

You can connect a speaker to line level converter to the speaker terminals of the receiver. That will give you a preout to drive any power amp. You can even leave speakers connected to the same terminals and use the receiver to drive another pair of speakers without damage.
