Stereo is fine but speaker not working

What is procedure for checking a bad speaker?

If you don't have a VOM you can connect a known working speaker to the same wires.
You can set a VOM to the lowest resistance range. If the meter shows an open circuit the voice coil is blown. The VOM would read slightly off the actual resistance rating of the speaker if it was OK.
